BIO

Courtney Krause's thought-provoking style of writing not only encompasses the longing heart of a singer-songwriter, but speaks to the variety of circumstances faced in relationships, communication, and honesty. Modernizing Americana with hints of classic country, folk, sultry soul, rock and rhythm, the songs create a dialogue where both sides of the story are told.

The well-received freshman album, "Thoughts and Sound," homes lyrically driven songs that bring the listener into the genuine moments of memories and ideas that take place in the mind. The tracks are thoughts, the album as a whole is sound, and together they are a conversation about relationships, understanding, and humanity. Her sophomore album and strongest released yet, "Tie Your Tongue/Bite Your lip," is a 10 track album focused around the importance of difficult conversations after allowing thoughts to manifest themselves in the most authentic of moments of communication and vulnerable expression. This album roams down hallways, waits in doorways, and carefully creeps through rooms of conversation in a metaphorical house of our memories and words we wish we would have said.

"The songs show genuine depth and emotion, but the true star of the album is Krause's voice, which is gorgeous and reason enough for at least a couple listens" - Chad Taylor, Cityview

Most recently from Des Moines, Iowa, Courtney Krause's music has been featured on KCWI 23, KCCI 8, Iowa Public Radio (IPR), and KFGM Homegrown. From events like Des Moines Music Coalition's Little BIG Fest to annual volunteering at Race for the Cure, Women Helping Women, and JDRF, Krause has significantly contributed to the musical growth in Des Moines; at the same time, bringing people and music listeners of all ages and backgrounds together. In 2016, Krause was added to 80/35 Music Festival lineup, after the song "Hardwood Floors" was selected for Carpe Diem III and the song "I Understand" was used to be chosen for the 2016 Community Selected Artist for Des Moines Music Coalition's Gross Domestic Project. In 2017, she was named "People to Watch" and "Artist to Watch 2018" by The Des Moines Register. Currently, Krause is working on her third, and most anticipated, album to date.

Albums are available on Amazon, CdBaby, Spotify, Bandcamp, and all major music platforms.
